Fie on business!

If there's anything I've learn't in the past decade of playing music for a living, it's that money always works itself out fine. I rarely leave on a trip with more than $10-$20 in my pocket, and I always seem to return home with substantially more. Don't ask me how it works, but it does. Frankly, I'm a lucky fella. I love playing music, I love traveling, and I love meeting and visiting with friends new and old. But there's something about this whole music business which I've learn't to not much love .... "business."

I don't love spending every waking hour on the computer. I don't love speaking and writing of myself in the third person. I don't love "social" networking - virtual or otherwise. I don't love online stores, emails, newsletters, blogs and everything else which makes my fingers hurt and my eyes tired. There are plenty of things I used to enjoy which I simply don't have the heart for anymore. So I'm getting rid of all that, and getting back down to what I do love ... sharing music with anyone who cares to listen. To that end, I've instituted the following changes:

a) Many of my songs are available for free download on the "Media" page.

b) If you'd like any or all of my albums for yourself or your friends, let me know; I'll mail 'em to you with a self-addressed, stamped envelope for whatever donations and/or trades you wanna send - large or small, it's no matter to me. I've purchased a duplicator, so even the out-of-print stuff is now available.

c) You're welcome to use all songs I've written for any purpose whatsoever. Perform 'em, rewrite 'em, put them on yer movie soundtrack .... it's all the same to me. Please check first, though, to make sure I really wrote it; If I didn't and if it's not in the public domain, it's not mine to give.

d) In exchange for a train ticket (or other transportation), a bite to eat and somewhere to lay my head, I will play anywhere, for anybody. It's generally a good idea to ask about dates at least three months in advance to ensure that I'll be able to work it into my schedule.

e) Possibly the most exciting news (for me, anyhow) is that I will have a new album soon. I'm not making any promises as to when it will be done, but it should certainly be within the year and I do promise it will be more than well-worth the wait!
